Thomas L WILSON is listed by Hazen (1947) as David Wilson's father, which information was most likely provided personally by Sarah Jane (Hazen) Wilson, herself.
According to undocumented stories that were current in Frank Wilson's family (this Ed's grandfather, c.1940 to 70) the first of OUR Wilsons in this country was one JAMES WILSON, who left County Down, Ireland in 1807. He was said to have had seven sons. One son came to Iowa. This was the "second James." James #2 is said to have had seven sons and two daughters, among whom were: George, David L. (our g'grandfather), Martin, Thomas, James, Kate, Mary, - -. The elder brother, George, had at least two sons: George (some time governor of Iowa & later of Washington D.C.), and John of Menlo, Iowa.
The source of these stories was probably uncle Will (Frank's brother) who was the last to have contact with his father, David Lynn Wilson, before 1900. He is known to have visited back and forth between families after David and Sarah Jane seperated. The stories have remarkable similarity to the ancestory of Pres. T. Woodrow Wilson (and uncle Will was not known for exceptional veracity.) However they have some ring of authenticity and were said to have been heard prior to World War I & before the T W Wilson Presidency made him notorious.
