Lilly's family arrived in Salem Oregon on Fred's birthday, May 10,1925. Neddy G Wilson had gone by covered wagon to Fargo, Oklahoma. After 7 (?) years there they moved to Colorado in 1916 and then on to Oregon 9 years later. At the start of World War II, in 1941, Fred and Lilly moved to Port Orchard, Washington where Fred worked across the bay at the Bremerton Navy Yard as a pipe fitter until retiring in 1960 (?). After Ruth and Fern were out from under foot Lilly worked out, cooking part time in the local school system.

When Fred was five years old (1899) the Frank Wilsons moved from Atlantic to Port Orchard, Washington near Uncle John's where G'mpa (Frank) farmed and worked around the shipyards. Then in 1905, the family moved to Salem, living with the Lansings until the house was built on the new farm west of Salem. Fred farmed for his dad and worked out until he was drafted and served a few months toward the end of World War I. Aunt Mable (Wilson) Smith recalled that Fred (almost 11 years old) was kicked in the head by a horse while living in Wash. He was uncouncious 21 or 23 days. Doctor didn't expect him to recover. Mabel can remember running to the house screaming that "Freds hurt" [she thought that] Fred was always slower after this but still a very good alert worker. We have a note from cousin Sadie, Uncle Johns daughter. She also remembered "Fred getting kicked by Old Kate (uncle Franks) horse in the head and the old doctor was so old and nervous [her] Dad had to sew his head up." Aunt Mabel also recalled that they "moved to Oregon summer of 1905 - lived with the Lansings until a house was found to rent. Lived there until the farm was bought. The farm house was built up off the ground. The pigs had run under the house so there were flea's everywhere. Took 2 yr. to finally get rid of them. House had 4 rooms. Square with each room equal. There was a shed attached to the back which was Freds room." Fred and Lilly met in his dad's Loganberry patch where Lilly was picking berries during the first summer after her family moved from Colorado. Fred and Lilly were married on December 17,1925 just 7 monthes after they had first met. For the next 10 years they lived on the 15 acre farm where Fred had built, himself, their first house. In 1937 they moved to, and farmed his dad's place for about 4 years. At the start of World War II, in 1941, they moved from Oregon back to Port Orchard, Washington where Fred worked across the bay at the Bremerton Navy Yard as a pipe fitter until retiring in 1960 (?). Your editor remembers that uncle Fred always seemed to have a good garden and talked about fishing the Hood Canal with Elmer, Uncle John's son.
