A closeup of the (wrong) FE engine mount. This rubber mount was from a '69 Mustang. The kit actually calls for an early '60s full size Ford. I could not (initially) find any so tried this. It worked for a while - until it came to ground clearance and trying to align the headers with the side pipe collectors. The correct position of the FE block in the chassis has the front of the block (ignoring the timing cover) 9" back from the rear of the front cross member, and the bottom of the block (ignoring the pan) about 3 1/4" above the bottom of the frame. With the Mustang mounts, I was about 1 1/2" too far back and 1 1/2" too low. I finally found the right mounts at Crites Restoration Products through Galaxie Club of America. |
