Fuel Filler Hose Leak
The previous owner had moved the gas tank out of the cab and into a much better
location under the rear of the frame - both safer and fewer gas fumes. The fuel
filler was correspondingly moved from the cab to the rear driver's side wheel well.
However, the fuel filler "hose" used a very stiff, non-compressible piece of plastic
tubing. Every time one would fill the truck, gas would drip out of the filler tube
because the plactic tube could not be compressed to make a tight/secure fit to the
tank nor to the fitting on the wheel well.
The first modification to the truck was to buy a "real" piece of fuel filler tubing
of about the right length, with about the right bend, cut to fit and replace the plastic tube
1 hour job and no more leak.
