- In 1963, a month or two before he was shot in Dallas, President John F Kennedy visited the Naval Weapons Research Center in China Lake, CA where Dad (Ralph Wilson Jr) worked. We were sitting under the trees along the parade route and watched him and the motorcade pass. Mom tried to get me to go out in the road and shake his hand, but I was too intimidated (7 years old). As this was on base, there were no crowds.

My paternal grandmother's line traces back to the Mayflower, with the "Simmons" name
actually arriving on the "Fortune".
